Nickel(II) carbonate based on Nd3+4f3 electronic configuration and sharp light absorption characteristics, it has excellent magnetic and thermal stability, and is a key precursor for the preparation of neodymium-iron-boron permanent magnets, laser crystals and special glasses, and its purple appearance facilitates quality control during the production process.

Chemical properties

  • Solubility: Slightly soluble in water ( solubility at 25℃ ≈ 0.005 g/100mL ), soluble in inorganic acids ( dissolution rate in 1M HNO3>8g/min )
  • Thermal behavior: The DSC shows double endothermic peaks (dehydration peak at 210 ℃, decomposition peak at 480 ℃).
  • Optical properties: characteristic absorption peaks (575nm, 740nm, 802nm)
  • Magnetic properties: Room temperature magnetic susceptibility χ ≈ 3.2 × 10-3emu/g (1T field strength)

  • Laser crystals: Nd:YAG laser raw material (1064nm emission)
  • Filter glass: preparation of special glass containing neodymium (absorbing yellow light at 580nm)
